Guide complet de la spécialité
A mommy makeover is not a single operation but a combination of procedures that address the changes pregnancy and breastfeeding leave behind — usually a tummy tuck, a breast lift or augmentation, and liposuction. Combining them in one trip to Turkey is efficient and cost-effective, but it also means a bigger operation and a longer, more demanding recovery than any one procedure alone.
What a mommy makeover involves
The exact plan is tailored to you. Most makeovers pair an abdominoplasty (removing loose lower-tummy skin and repairing separated muscles) with a breast procedure and some liposuction to refine the waist. Because several areas are treated at once, you have a single anaesthetic and a single recovery instead of returning several times — which is part of the appeal, and part of the risk.
Which procedures are combined
| Component | What it corrects | Typically included when |
|---|---|---|
| Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) | Loose skin and separated abdominal muscles | There is overhang or a weakened core after pregnancy |
| Breast lift or augmentation | Sagging or lost volume after breastfeeding | The breasts have dropped or deflated |
| Liposuction | Stubborn fat at the waist, flanks or hips | Contouring is needed to refine the result |
| Muscle repair (diastasis) | The gap between stretched tummy muscles | The abdominal wall has separated |
Not every makeover includes all four; your surgeon selects only what you need.
Who is a good candidate
- Women who have finished having children, since a later pregnancy can reverse a tummy tuck
- Those at a stable weight who are close to their goal, not using surgery for weight loss
- Non-smokers, or those willing to stop for several weeks — smoking sharply raises wound and clot risks
- People fit enough for a longer operation under general anaesthetic
- Those who can commit to 10–14 days in Turkey and limited activity for weeks afterwards
Step by step: the process

Online consultation
You share photos, birth history and goals; the surgeon proposes which procedures to combine and flags anything that should be staged separately.
Arrival and full assessment
In Turkey you have a thorough examination, blood tests, imaging if needed and an anaesthetic review, because a combined operation demands you are genuinely fit.
Combined surgery
The operation commonly lasts four to six hours under general anaesthetic. The team works through each planned area in one sitting.
Hospital stay
You usually stay one to two nights so nurses can manage pain, drains, and watch for bleeding or clots after a long procedure.
Staged review before flying
Several follow-up checks over your stay confirm the wounds, drains and swelling are settling before you travel home.
Recovery, week by week
Days 1–3
Rest and support
You move slowly and slightly bent to protect the tummy repair. Pain relief, a compression garment and gentle walking to prevent clots are the priorities.
Week 1
Drains and dressings
Drains are often removed and dressings changed. You are mobile around the hotel but tire quickly and cannot lift.
Week 2
Clearance to fly
Many are cleared to fly home around day 10–14 once wounds and swelling are stable, still in a compression garment.
Weeks 3–6
Building strength
Light daily life resumes but no core exercise, heavy lifting or strenuous activity yet; swelling continues to fall.
Months 3–6
Result emerges
Scars soften, the waist and breasts settle, and the final shape becomes clear — full recovery of a combined makeover takes months.
Results and permanence
A mommy makeover can be genuinely transformative, and tummy-tuck results in particular tend to be long-lasting if your weight stays stable and you do not have another pregnancy. Scars are permanent — a low tummy scar and any breast scars — and fade gradually over a year or more. As with any combined surgery, being realistic matters: this restores and refines, it does not stop future ageing or weight change.

Choosing a clinic safely
- Confirm a single board-certified plastic surgeon leads the whole operation, not separate unnamed staff
- Ask whether combining everything at once is safe for you, or whether it should be staged into two operations
- Check the hospital is accredited with intensive-care backup for a long procedure
- Get a written list of exactly which procedures and implants are included
- Ask about DVT prevention, since long surgery plus a flight is a real clot risk
- Be cautious of very low 'everything included' prices that gloss over the scale of the surgery
One long operation carries more risk
Combining several procedures means more time under anaesthetic, more blood loss and a higher risk of complications and blood clots than any single operation. A tummy tuck followed by a long flight is a particular DVT risk. If a clinic pushes to do everything at once without assessing your fitness, or won't consider staging, treat that as a red flag.
Medical disclaimer
This page is general information, not medical advice. Only a qualified surgeon who examines you in person can decide which procedures to combine, whether to stage them, and whether a mommy makeover is safe for you.
A mommy makeover should be planned around your safety first and your goals second — sometimes the right answer is two calmer operations, not one marathon.
