Non-surgical aesthetics covers the treatments that refresh how your skin looks without a scalpel, general anaesthetic or a long recovery. They suit people who want to soften lines, restore volume, even out tone or tighten a little — not remove excess skin or reshape bone, which still needs surgery. The appeal is real: most sessions take under an hour and you walk out the same day. The catch is equally real: these are medical procedures with medical risks, and the result depends far more on who treats you than on which city you fly to.
The main non-surgical treatments
"Aesthetics" is an umbrella term. Turkish clinics offer the same core menu you would find in London or New York, and it helps to know exactly what each one does before you book.
- Botulinum toxin (anti-wrinkle injections) — brands such as Botox or Dysport relax the muscles that create movement lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes. It softens dynamic wrinkles; it does not fill static creases.
- Dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid) — gel made from a sugar your body already produces, injected to restore lost volume in cheeks, lips and folds, or to smooth deeper lines. A key safety feature: HA filler can be partly dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if something goes wrong.
- Laser skin resurfacing — fractional or ablative lasers improve texture, scarring, pigmentation and fine lines by controlled resurfacing of the skin. Downtime scales with how deep the laser goes.
- Laser hair removal — targets the pigment in the hair follicle over a course of sessions rather than a single visit.
- Chemical peels — acids of varying strength (from superficial glycolic to deeper TCA) lift dull or damaged surface layers so fresher skin replaces them.
- PRP and microneedling — tiny controlled punctures, sometimes combined with platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood, to stimulate collagen for tone and texture.
- Skin tightening (radiofrequency and focused ultrasound / HIFU) — heats the deeper layers to trigger gradual collagen remodelling and a mild lift over several months.
How a typical session works
Consultation and mapping
A doctor assesses your skin and facial anatomy, agrees a realistic plan, and marks the injection points or treatment zones. This is where honest limits should be set — a good clinician talks you out of overdoing it.
Numbing and prep
The area is cleaned and a topical anaesthetic cream (or, for lips, a small dental block) is applied. Before-photos are usually taken for your record.
The treatment
Injections, laser passes or a peel are applied. Most sessions take 15–45 minutes; you stay awake throughout and can leave straight afterwards.
Aftercare
You are told to stay upright for a few hours after toxin, avoid rubbing, heat and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours, and use sun protection after laser or peels. Written aftercare and a contact number for problems should be standard.
Who holds the needle matters
Non-surgical does not mean risk-free. Toxin and filler are prescription medical products; in the wrong hands they cause drooping, lumps, blocked blood vessels (vascular occlusion) and, rarely, blindness. Only let a licensed medical professional treat you, insist on seeing the sealed, branded product opened in front of you, and walk away from clinics advertising suspiciously cheap 'deals' — counterfeit and diluted product circulates in the discount market.
How long the results last
This is the honest part the glossy adverts skip: with injectables, nothing here is permanent. Botulinum toxin wears off as the nerve endings recover, and hyaluronic acid filler is slowly broken down by your body. Laser and peel results depend on ongoing sun protection and skincare, and hair removal needs a full course to work. Keeping any of these looks means repeat sessions — you should budget for maintenance, not treat it as a one-time cost.

Downtime and when you can fly
For injections, peels and light laser, downtime is measured in hours to a few days — that is the whole point. Deeper laser resurfacing and medium-to-deep peels are different: they leave the skin red, raw and peeling for days to weeks and need careful sun avoidance, so do not book them for the day before you fly home.
Day 0 · Treatment day
Minor swelling and marks
Small injection points, mild redness and possible pinpoint bruising. Toxin shows no change yet; filler can look slightly over-full from swelling. Most people return to normal activity the same day.
Days 1–2 · Settling
Back to work
Filler swelling subsides and any bruising can be covered with makeup after 24 hours. Avoid heat, alcohol, hard exercise and pressure on the treated area.
Days 3–7 · Toxin kicks in
First real change
Botulinum toxin starts relaxing the muscle around day 3–7 and lines soften. Filler settles into its final position; peels and light laser finish flaking.
Week 2 · Review
Full effect and check-up
Toxin reaches its peak and a good clinic reviews you for a small top-up if a line is still moving. This is the point at which to judge the result.
Months 3–18 · Maintenance
It wears off
Toxin fades by 3–4 months and HA filler over 6–18 months. Holding the look means repeat treatment on a schedule.
What it costs in Turkey
Turkish prices sit well below UK and US list rates, and the reason is not cheaper product or less-qualified staff when you choose a licensed medical clinic. It is lower clinic overheads, strong local competition and a favourable exchange rate. Treat the figures below as approximate ranges; your actual price is set only after an in-person assessment, because it depends on how much product you need, the area treated and the technology used.
| Treatment | Approx. per session / area (Turkey) |
|---|---|
| Anti-wrinkle injections (per area) | €90–€250 |
| Dermal filler (per 1 ml syringe) | €150–€350 |
| Chemical peel (per session, by depth) | €60–€250 |
| Laser hair removal (per session, by area) | €50–€200 |
| Laser skin resurfacing (per session) | €200–€600 |
| PRP / microneedling (per session) | €120–€300 |
| HIFU / radiofrequency tightening (full face) | €300–€1,500 |

How to choose a clinic safely
- Confirm a licensed medical professional treats you — a doctor, dentist or a nurse working under medical supervision, never a beautician or an unqualified 'trainer' running a weekend course.
- Ask which exact product and brand is used, and see it opened. Genuine toxin and filler arrive in sealed, labelled packaging that should be unsealed in front of you.
- Be sceptical of bargain prices. Counterfeit, expired or diluted product is a genuine risk at the cheapest end of the market — the saving is not worth a blocked blood vessel.
- Reject anyone promising 'permanent, no-downtime, no-risk' results. Honest clinicians tell you injectables are temporary and carry real, if small, risks.
- Insist on a face-to-face assessment, a written plan and clear complication cover before you pay. WhichClinic verifies clinics, but this is universal: a clinic that will not put the plan, product and aftercare in writing is one to avoid.
This is general information
This page is general information, not medical advice. Which treatments suit you, whether you are a suitable candidate, and the results and risks in your own case all depend on an in-person assessment by a qualified doctor. Products, dosing and final pricing are confirmed only after that consultation.
The best non-surgical result is the one nobody can point to. Choose a clinician who talks you out of doing too much, uses product you watched them open, and tells you honestly when it will wear off.
